Welney Wash Road nearly one metre under water amid flooding

Drivers have been advised to find an alternative route for the rest of the week due to heavy flooding on a key road.

The Welney Flood Watch group has reported that river levels at the village have risen to 3.31m high overnight.

That is already significantly higher than the 2.73m that was measured two days ago.

This has now resulted in water of nearly one metre in depth lying on the A1101 Welney Wash Road.

The flood watch group has warned that flashing signs will most likely max out on 99cm, meaning they will not show the true depth if it goes deeper.

“Find another route today and most likely for the rest of this week at the very least,” the group said.
