Key projects to help prevent “devastating” flooding in West Norfolk have been celebrated.

These are aimed at better protecting homes and businesses.

Terry Jermy MP said: “I understand just how devastating flooding can be for communities in my own of South West Norfolk constituency.

“I’ve listened closely to residents’ concerns about the poor state of many of our flood defences which is why I am so pleased to see this progress over the past 12 months.

“I’ve visited the Magdalen site to see this project firsthand and understand the difference it is making.”

As part of its Plan for Change, the Government is investing £10.5billion until 2036 to construct new flood schemes and repair existing defences.

This investment is aimed at growing both national and local economies, creating thousands of jobs, protecting town centres against billions of pounds in property damage, and safeguarding valuable farmland.
