GEAR is coming soon to the streets of Lynn
There are now less than 300 places are left as runners from across the region race to secure their place on the start line.
The Asda Foundation GEAR 10K is being organised for the first time by not-for-profit company Run For All, working in partnership with Alive Leisure and West Norfolk Council.
Run For All events manager Lynne Preston said: “We are thrilled that so many runners have responded enthusiastically to this year’s event and it is shaping up to be an excellent day.
“The advice to anyone who wants to be a part of it is don’t delay, enter now.”
About 2,500 people are set to take part in this popular event. Would-be participants are advised to sign up quickly at http://www.runforall.com/10k/kings-lynn-gear/ – or risk being disappointed.
One of the region’s biggest charity runs, the GEAR 10K features a scenic route taking in the pretty town centre, River Ouse pathway, The Walks and a number of historic buildings including Red Mount, the Custom House and Greyfriars Tower.
New for 2017 is the Bespak Corporate Challenge where companies will battle it out to be crowned the fastest firm in the race. Entry is open to teams of five or more and includes hospitality, branded T-shirts and other benefits.
It also see the return of the popular Bespak Mini GEAR - a 1.2-mile fun run for people of all ages and abilities (entrants must be 6 years and up) from Tuesday Market Place. Every finisher will receive a Mini GEAR medal and a goody bag to show off their achievements.
Run For All is part of the lasting legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE who raised almost £2m for charity through a series of endurance challenges, despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.
It runs successful 10ks across the north of England, including in Leeds, Sheffield, York, Hull, Burnley, Nottingham and Lincoln.
