A retired businessman is hosting a 1960s music event to support the two hospitals that cared for him when he had a heart attack the day after his 70th birthday.

Tickets are now on sale for the event which has been organised by Eddie Tann and will take place at the Maltings Q Club on Page Stair Lane, Lynn, in May.

Mr Tann is raising funds for Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Papworth Hospital in Cambridge in recognition of the care he received when he was taken ill in the early hours of May 11 last year.

He said: “I spent two weeks in the QEH being monitored and cared for, before being sent to the Papworth for four further weeks.

“The treatment and care I received at both hospitals was outstanding.

“I feel I have to give something back to show my appreciation to everyone that looked after me and for all that was done for me.

“I had a triple heart by-pass, spent 36 hours in critical care and six months recuperating.”

Mr Tann said he feels he as been given a new lease of life and also thanked his wife, Laureen, for her support during his illness.

Performers including Roger Williams and Universal Sounds Disco will be taking part in the fundraiser on Sunday May 10, between 2 and 8pm.

Tickets, which are priced £15 and include a buffet, are available from the Maltings on 01553 691081.

Meanwhile, anyone who would like to make a donation or offer a raffle prize should contact Mr Tann on 07769 043158.
