A Coastguard helicopter landed at King’s Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital this lunchtime after picking up someone who had been taken ill at sea.

The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAS) said that the helicopter landing had been necessary because of a medical transfer from a ship at sea.

But the spokesman was unable to give more details about the severity of the case.

The Coastguard has seven rescue helicopters based around the United Kingdom (at Stornoway Airport, Sumburgh Airport, Lee-on-Solent and Portland) which could be used in medical transfers at sea.
