East of England Labour MEP Richard Howitt addressed activists at a public meeting organised by the Lynn and District Trades Council on Friday night.

Mr Howitt, pictured above centre with council activists and local Labour politicians, spoke about the ongoing negotiations between the EU and the United States on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) during the event at the Yours Business Network centre.

Supporters of the deal have argued that it will help to secure future economic growth and prosperity.

But critics say public services should be removed from the deal and claim the partnership could put jobs at risk.

They also warn that the agreement may leave future governments open to legal action if private companies are barred from offering NHS services.

The meeting was also addressed by Laura Townshend, pictured centre right, communications director of the 38 Degrees campaign organisation.
