They are dancing for joy at a junior school in King’s Lynn as they raise money to save the endangered Adelie penguin.
A video pupils and teachers at Howard Junior in Gaywood has been featured on the website of wildlife champions, WWF and the charity contacted the school to congratulate them on their fundraising efforts, which includes sponsoring their very own penguin.
On Tuesday, Howard will be hosting a Penguin Day to redouble their efforts on behalf of the Adelies, which live in Antarctica. Penguin expert Rod Downie, who leads the WWF’s polar programme, will be visiting the school for Penguin Day. Rod has recently returned from Antarctica and will be telling the children all about it. As well as a special guest, children will be participating in different learning activities to find out more about penguins and Antarctica, and will be raising more money for WWF by face-painting and selling cakes.
