Almost £2,000 was raised by students and staff at Lynn’s King Edward VII Academy when they staged a Macmillan coffee morning on Friday.

The event was delayed from the date of the annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning because of timetable clashes.

But that didn’t stop the school community from coming together to bake cakes of all shapes and sizes for senior prefects and sixth form staff to sell throughout the day.

A total of £1,922 was raised and head girl Molly Hemeter, pictured above, right, said: “The support we have had has been absolutely immense, both from students and staff buying and donating cake. We were close to selling out by lunchtime and had to get more cake.”
