The salon at the College of West Anglia has raised £130 for Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Excel Appeal.

Students at the Lynn campus offered two-hour hairdressing sessions, including a hand and arm massage, to clients as a part of their charity fundraiser event. Their chosen charity, the Excel Appeal, is aiming to raise £50,000 for specialist care equipment for elderly patients.

Lisa Gallacher, course director for hairdressing, organised the event. She said: “The event was very successful. Our students worked really hard and clients seemed to thoroughly enjoy their services. As a department, we engage in a great deal of charitable acts.

“It was nice to be able to support our local hospital and hopefully we can do similar events in the future.”

QEH fundraising executive Laurence Morlaàs said: “We are grateful to Lisa Gallacher, Elaine Bayley and the Year 2 students of the hair and beauty department who supported our Excel Appeal – Excellence in Elderly Care.”
