Specialist building supplies merchant with King's Lynn branch celebrates 30 years
The Lynn branch of Plastic Building Supplies Ltd will be helping to mark the firm's 30th anniversary this year.
The branch, which has a unit at East Coast Business Park in West Lynn, will holding a trade event on Thursday and Friday, September 13 and 14, when both tradespeople and members of the public will be invited to attend for free food and offers.
PBS began in 1988 but opened its Lynn branch in 1995. In 1998 the unit was expanded and in 2017 further expansion followed so it now occupies a large triple unit.
The specialist PVCu building supplies merchant serves hundreds of local businesses, tradespeople and DIY customers, and also supports East Anglian Children's Hospices, the business's nominated charity.
PBS has its headquarters in Norwich, and also more branches in Gorleston and Thetford.
Owner and managing director, Stephen Gibling, started the business in 1988 after noticing a gap in the marketplace.
He had a small home improvement business at the time and in 1993 decided to expand and supply small builders and home improvement companies with windows.
Stephen started Ledan windows, which is still part of the group and based on the same site as Plastic Building Supplies in Norwich. The factory now manufactures a whole range of products including carports, canopies, windows, doors and conservatory roofs.
With plastics being such a topical issue, the business has come up with a sustainable solution to single use plastics which can be harmful to the environment.
PBS saves plastic that would otherwise end up at landfill and supplies quality recycled plastic furniture, such as garden benches, chairs and tables.
Made from untreated mixed plastic waste the lumber offers an ecological alternative to wood which is maintenance free, heavy duty, doesn't rot or split and lasts for decades.
