King's Lynn charity allotment site hosts wellbeing day
A wellbeing day has been held at West Norfolk Mind's allotments in North Lynn, to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week.
Members enjoyed activities including crafts, a barbecue, music and outdoor games during the session at the Front Way site on Tuesday.
The event followed the recent relaunch of the allotment project and the introduction of free 12-week places for people who need support on issues of social inclusion or their mental health and wellbeing.
West Norfolk Mind volunteer co-ordinator Zena Penty said: “There is a fantastic atmosphere at our allotment project right now.
"It’s a tranquil space where people are enjoying trying new things and meeting new people of all ages."
A number of further projects and activity events are going to be staged at the project over the next few months, with the aims of tackling social exclusion and enabling participants to develop new skills, and officials say they are keen to here suggestions
The project is open from 10am to 2pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. The referred individuals will be able to attend once a week on either a Tuesday or Thursday, so that 12 people can be supported each week.
People attending need to have some level of independence and be able to get themselves to and from the project site.
