West Norfolk engineer provides healthcare workers with face shields
An ongoing campaign by a engineer has provided West Norfolk’s healthcare workers with hundreds of face shields as part of efforts to maintain good levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mike Ford has produced over 1600 face shields for West Norfolk’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, local care homes, the Tapping House hospice, the Borough Council and Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
In April, Mr Ford – a science development engineer – used his expertise in 3D-printing to produce hundreds of the shields but found it difficult to obtain supplies of acetate sheets as the outbreak continued.
