King's Lynn man pleads not guilty to illegal tobacco supply

A Lynn man has pleaded not guilty to producing and supplying tobacco in breach of packaging regulations and without sufficient health warning.

Honer Aziz appeared before Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Friday after being charged with producing and supplying the tobacco from Europe Express on Lynn Road.

He was also charged with producing and supplying the tobacco from an address at River Lane in Gaywood.

Aziz has been released on unconditional bail to reappear before the same court on Tuesday, March 3.

His solicitor, Devon Small, told the court: “In relation to the items, he had no knowledge of them being seized.”

Mr Small said members of staff had been dealing with the tobacco and Aziz was “unaware” of this.

He also told the court Aziz did not own the property at River Lane so was again "unaware" of any tobacco being supplied.

Prosecutor Geoff Baker said it was “like a warehouse of 10,000 cigarettes”.

He added: "Many of them were counterfeit rather than standardised with a lack of health warning signs."
