King's Lynn Rotarians welcome twin club

The towering figure of Damien Hirst's "Charity" made a fitting backdrop to a Rotary visit to the Houghton exhibition as Rotary has been the instigator in the campaign to eliminate Polio from the the World for over 30 years.

The giant figure is of a little girl suffering from polio and holding a collecting box.

A party from the Emmerich-Rees Rotary Club was hosted by their twin club in King's Lynn as a prelude to the forthcoming 40th anniversary celebrations of the Twin Towns' association and in recognition of the two Clubs twinning in 1978.

The visitors were entertained on arrival by a meal at the Rathskeller on the South Quay, a visit to the Damien Hirst exhibition, attending the King's Lynn's Club President's Reception held at the Riverside Restaurant and an exclusive tour of King's Lynn Museum.
