Have your say

I’ll never meet 10,000 people, how can I do it? Where will I find the time? I think that’s pretty much how I felt on returning from holiday to the news that my bosses at KLFM had craftily devised a little scheme for me to do. However as you read this I have less than a week to complete the task, I’ve less than 300 to go and to and to be honest that’s a good feeling and now my feeling is how will I NOT do it!

The 10,000th Selfie will be taken this Sunday on the Tuesday Market Place amidst the Princes, Princesses, the cast of this year’s panto at the Alive Corn Exchange, Denzil from Only Fools and Horses and thousands of onlookers ready to see in the start of Christmas. The fun begins at 12 and right after my Sunday Breakfast show I will once again be armed with only a selfie stick to complete my challenge. I’ll have until 4pm when the Christmas lights are switched on so if you are planning to take the family please make sure you come and see me to help me reach my target, I’d hate to miss it as I am so close.

I must thank everyone that has been involved so far it has been an amazing thing to be part of, I’ve met thousands of amazing people, helped so many charities, been involved with more community projects than I can remember, been privileged to attend some major events in the area and most of all raised a lot of awareness for some very deserving people.

Remember one of the selfies will win an iPad so if you haven’t already visit my Breakfast page on KLFM’s website to get your picture number then keep an eye and ear out for the winning selfie. I’m also pleased to say that will be a very special prize for someone this Sunday too!

It’s fair to say my arms ache just a bit from holding the board and stick but it really has been a blast, somehow though I don’t think reaching 10,000 will be the end of it, there is bound to be something else for me to do once this is complete! I’m not sure who is most happy about 10,000 selfies coming to an end however, myself as I won’t have to cart around my oversized selfie frame and I’ll never have to queue in Argos for another selfie stick in my life or my wife who won’t have to move the board out the car every time she needs space in the boot of the car.

In case you wondered to complete this task so far I’ve broken eight selfie sticks and only one selfie board, and for that I can thank a group of slightly inebriated girls at Manhattan nights.

Look forward to seeing you on the Tuesday Market Place this Sunday from 12!
