Fakenham Racecourse ladies day a colourful National Hunt Racing 2021/22 season closer
Ladies day provided a colourful closer to the season at Fakenham Racecourse on Sunday.
Punters turned on the glamour for the final meeting of the 2021/22 National Hunt Racing programme which was the first proper event of its kind held at the course for three years due to Covid.
So, as usual, dazzling hats and clothes were the order of the day for the seven-race afternoon.
Meanwhile, the racecard fittingly began with a female jockeys’ handicap hurdle.
Clerk of the course David Hunter reported that the day was very busy, and said: “We’re very pleased with the day.
“This was our first one since 2019 and there were very happy people.
“There was no racing in May 2020 and in 2021 we had a limited entry.
“It was 8pm when the day finally wound up when the last people left.”
Jarrold, the department store in Norwich, once again sponsored ladies day.
Mr Hunter added: “We have a very great association with Jarrolds.
“Their sponsorship helped to bring in a different crowd and new racegoers, and that’s always good for us.”
