New roadworks get underway in Lynn next week in order for urgent sewer repairs to be carried out.

Anglian Water needs to carry out work to a sewer pipe running across the four-lane section of Railway Road, near Old Sunway.

Engineers have to excavate deep in order to carry out the work, requiring two of the four lanes to be closed.

Two lanes will remain open along Railway Road, between the Blackfriars Road and Norfolk Street junctions.

The work is due to start next Tuesday, May 26, and is expected to take up to a week to complete.

Norfolk County Council has timed the roadworks to coincide with the school half term to try to minimise rush-hour disruption.

A spokesman apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Meanwhile, work is continuing at Lynn’s new-look bus station.

Steelwork for the new canopy has been finished and work is now underway to lay drainage to the canopy and footway beneath.
