One of West Norfolk’s busiest roads has been partially closed this afternoon after a section of the road surface sank, exposing a manhole cover.
Police say the cover on the A47 at Middleton is now above the road surface, representing a danger to motorists.
The road is currently closed westbound, heading towards Lynn. Highways England engineers have been called, but it is so far unclear how long the closure will remain in place.
It is the third problem relating to manhole covers on that stretch of the A47 in the last few days, after collapsed manholes were reported at Necton and Little Fransham.
