Residents in West Dereham are being told to keep their windows and doors shut after a massive fire at a scrap yard in the village.

Some 700 tonnes of scrap is on fire and a large number of crews from Norfolk and Cambridgeshire are at the scene this morning, Saturday August 13.

The fire at Glazewing recycling park station Road started at about 7am.

The fire has broken out in the general waste section of the site, with a mixture of metals and plastics caught in the blaze.

Fire crews are currently working the limit the smoke plume and its environmental impact.

Glazewing is a Norfolk and Cambridgeshire based waste management company, which also has sites in Great Yarmouth, King’s Lynn, March and Wisbech
