Fran Whymark appointed new Norfolk County Council cabinet member for public health

A new cabinet member is ready to embrace an opportunity to shape the way public health is managed in Norfolk.

Norfolk County Council leader Kay Mason Billig has appointed Cllr Fran Whymark as cabinet member for public health and wellbeing, following Cllr Bill Borrett’s resignation last week.

Cllr Whymark will not continue in his previous role as deputy cabinet member for children’s services, and will focus solely on his new position.

Cllr Mason Billig said: “Fran has a wealth of experience and knows the subject extremely well, having been chair of the health overview and select committee.

“I know that everyone will welcome him in his new role.”

Cllr Whymark said: “I’m really looking forward to getting on with the new role. I know it will be challenging but I look forward to having the opportunity to shape how we address public health.”

The leader will raise the changes at the cabinet meeting at the end of the month.
