Speeding – nothing will change, Lynn News Letters

So a member of the public has now got fed up with speeding motorists and absolutely nothing being done about them along Wootton Road, Gaywood, as reported on the front page of Lynn News on Tuesday.

Until a few years ago, I was a member of our parish council and fed up with so many drivers ignoring speed limits through our village, I later applied to join the proposed village Speedwatch team, but all to no avail. From one excuse to another, nothing came of it and eventually I resigned from the council.

Nothing has been done since, nor do I expect there to be in the rest of my lifetime, or while living in the village.

Many drivers still choose to ignore the speed limits, or treat the signs as the minimum for where they are driving. Before anybody thinks I am perfect, I am not and got caught speeding in 1976, paying the penalty for it. These days, instead of speeding, I make a point to leave earlier and see no need to tailgate as many others now feel they need to do these days.
