Why interfere with Norfolk Fire Service, Lynn News Letters

The expected cost if inflated from 1991/92, in line with state pension increase is £37 million and in line with population increase, £43 million.
So the Fire Service currently costs £15 million less than might be expected if resources had kept pace with population growth. Over 27 years this is a saving of £202 million.
How can you possibly save more? Only by shutting down fire stations and sacking staff.
Instead, send the Police and Crime Commissioner back to Canada, saving £1 million, with which we could pay for 40 extra police constables.
The fire service managed perfectly well before the PCC stuck his beak in. It has an excellent efficiency record, so why mess with the service?
