Fairstead Surgery closure is 'unbelievable', Lynn News letters
In the 60s, I was working for a local GP in Lynn. AS the "overspill" accelerated bringing London companies to the Hardwick Estate, it also brought their employees to the newly-build Fairstead Estate.
After much correspondence and discussion we were able to open a surgery in one of the three bedroom houses at Three Oaks.
I left the practice in 1973 moving to Sweden, but I have visited both the Three Oaks surgery and later Centre Point keeping in touch with old colleagues.
I still visit Lynn reasonably regularly to visit friends and the town holds a special place in my heart. It seems unbelievable that something that started in the 1960s as a service to patients should, 50 years later, be threatened with closure on the grounds of health and safety and financial gain.
