Parking at King's Lynn hospital should be free
At least people had the choice and if the town closes down, we know who is to blame. On June 1 the Queen Elizabeth Hospital put up its parking charges by 30 per cent. They have done themselves proud. You can now park in their car park for two hours for £2.60. For only 20p more you can park all day in Lynn’s long stay car park or, as I said, park out of town for free.
No one wants to go to hospital for an appointment or to visit we go there because we have to, we never know how long we are going to be so paying is guess work. Henry Bellingham MP (Look East, June 1) says the hospital should start a pay on exit system. Well here’s another idea – let us park at our local hospital for free. We are told the hospital has trouble recruiting staff. Well it can’t help that the staff they take on are taxed by their employers just to park where they work. The NHS is famous for saying it is free at the point of delivery. Well that may be the case, but it’s not free if you drive there.
