Planting flowers by roadside is great idea, but rejected by West Norfolk Council, Lynn News letters

By Lynn News Reporter

The annual mixes were sown along eight miles of verges and roundabouts throughout Rotherham.

Rotherham Council have received a Green Apple award for Environmental Best Practice as well as over 250 compliments for the scheme.

Good for declining butterflies and bees. Good for local people. Good for saving thousands of pounds per year in mowing costs. Good for the environment. Good solution towards our declining wildlife. Good idea eh?

West Norfolk Council thinks not! Apparently, according to a “cabinet member”, we don’t have enough manpower to manage it. There are only cost savings. In Rotherham £25,000 per year. In my experience, the officers of West Norfolk Council are probably the least proactive in the country. Having booted out the useless bunch of councillors that sat on their laurels for years, it could be time to drain the swamp of lackadaisical council officers.
