Fear for two-tier NHS system if bill goes through
On this day Christopher Chope MP for Christchurch will present his private member’s bill called ‘The NHS (Co-funding and Co-payment) Bill 2017-2019 for a second reading. Did anyone notice its first reading?
The implications of this bill is that privateers Virgin, Capita, Acadia and Care UK, who are gradually stripping the NHS of its public service in order to fill their boots at the taxpayers’ expense, will be allowed to charge and recover payments from patients. Should this bill be passed it will be another nail in the coffin of the NHS and will create a two-tier system. Being a Conservative, Mr Chope is reversing the pledge in the Conservative manifesto that service to health will be based on need and free at the point of contact. I have no doubt that our MP, Liz Truss, will support it, unless many of your readers write to her demanding she opposes it.
