Cross should be returned to Hunstanton, Lynn News Letters
When it left Snettisham it had a celtic cross, now it has not. That cross is part of our heritage, it's a pilgrims' meeting place. Now it's about time Hunstanton council did something like getting the cross back where it belongs.
There are many of theses crosses around our coast road which have been there since the thirteenth century used as meeting places for pilgrims on their way to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. King Henry III was the first king of England to visit the shrine in 1226. I suggest that all you councillors from Hunstanton visit the Slipper Chapel where all the crosses are put up at Easter time and then visit the one in the village, which is at the shrine. It was here that the lady of the manor saw a vision of Our Lady and she later became a nun. Recheldis was her name.
