Brexit, an oxymoron attitude to democracy, Lynn News letters

By Lynn News Reporter

If so many Brexitremist votes thought the EU referendum vote 2016 was truly democratic simply because it was about the pros and cons of EU membership then why haven’t they similarly demanded referendums on the likes of NATO membership, having a written constitution, an unelected Monarchy and House of Lords, Trident missile system etc?

Many Brexit voters say they’ll never trust democracy or vote again if a proper referendum on the real issue and ramifications of leaving the EU is allowed. Some even threaten civil disobedience in the event of that happening. One wonders by that oxymoron attitude to democracy of theirs whether many of them voted on anything conscientiously in the first place?
