Disappointed No 8 The Old Bookshop in Downham Market event was cancelled, Lynn News letters

By Lynn News Reporter

This was at very short notice due to “technical” difficulties with the borough council over licencing queries.

As this monthly charity event has been running without any problems for the last three years, I feel that the council should have worked harder with the organisers to find a way round the technical problems.

For those unaware of the No 8 The Old Bookshop events in Downham, they provide a vital outreach service to support people with hearing difficulties and the monthly music events not only raise funds for the charity, but also give the opportunity for the community to get together and enjoy some wonderful performances from musicians one would never see otherwise.

I hope that the council’s’ licencing committee works positively with the organisers and enable these valuable Downham events to continue. I am not connected with the charity, just a supporter of the brilliant work it does.
