Football hysteria dies down, Lynn News Letter




When I read reports in the paper that extra police were on duty in case these sports fans decided that watching the game wasn’t enough and felt an overwhelming desire to get good and drunk and thump someone or maybe damage stuff I was appalled. What is wrong with these people? Are we seriously expected to pay our taxes to the police because crowds of moronic oiks cannot control themselves?

In my village I watched folk shouting and swearing in the middle of the street moments after we lost and to cap it all, I note the poppy wreaths on the nearby War Memorial disappeared that night too.

If this is what the “beautiful game” does to people then it’s time they found something else to divert their tiny minds. And if anyone has any information and to where these wreaths are now I’d be pleased to see them returned . Some football fan, I suspect, knows something...
