King's Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital in debt - so what? Lynn News letters

By Lynn News Reporter

The CQC cursed our hospital with a second ‘inadequate’ rating and another session in ‘special measures’.

As a very interested bystander I wonder how ‘special’ these measures are? Obviously not special enough as we appear to have slipped back into some bad old ways again requiring the attention of an army of box tickers and professors.

As always the hospital managers express their gritty determination to pull things round and despite an endless series of ‘promising long and delivering short’ these highy-paid pen pushers still don’t seem able to take us out of the doldrums and provide the hospital services we need and deserve.

My personal experiences arenothing but good andmy family have nothingbut praise for the kind, generous and highly skilled nursing we have enjoyed recently.

The hospital is in debt – so what? £37 million in the red! About ten miles down the road at RAF Marham, that sort of money will barely buy you the back end of one of thenew war planes we’ve purchased to keep us safe in our beds. Ironically it looks like we’ve splurged all the money we have on these evil machines and effectively left ourselves very vulnerable in our hospital beds. Not my idea of progress or common sense but what do I know? I’m just another tax-paying sap who stands by helplessly watching this unbelievable insanity unfolding around us and over us. And what’s the word from Messrs. Truss and Bellingham? A big fat zero, again!
