No show appointments are huge waste of time and money, Lynn News, Letters

These precious appointments waste huge amounts of a surgery’s time and money.

Why can’t people simply update their practice if they’re not going to attend? Could it be that many of these people have had to wait so long to obtain their appointment that they’ve either recovered or died before the due date? I ask the question with a heavy dollop of sarcasm but the fact that so much time can pass between the time someone falls ill and their eventual appointment day arrives that many will possibly have no more need of medical intervention.

NHS.
NHS.

It is telling that the surgery manager commented that patients receive a text seven days and 24 hours ahead of the due date and although there should be no excuse for failing to respond and decline your slot I can see how it happens.

I bet the statistics show that appointments made over a week ahead are the ones being missed.

I suggest that if you cut the waiting time you’ll cut the number of ‘no shows’.
