More money spent on NHS, Lynn News Letters

By Julie Graham, Business Editor

I have no doubt whatsoever if Labour came to power under Jeremy Corbyn there would be just as many critical letters of Labour. I only take issue in politics when I read misleading facts and figures.

So I question Mike Larcey's letter on November 9 in which he claims the Conservative government has cut funding to the NHS over the past eight years. His claim is in complete contradiction to the TV evening news on the budget coverage.

NHS. (5395423)
NHS. (5395423)

All the TV channels' news showed graphs indicating in fact funding for the NHS under the Conservatives has gone up year after year. I also confirmed this by putting spending on the NHS via Google on the internet. In the spring I received my HMR&C yearly statement on my income tax paid.

The statement included a breakdown as to where the tax I had paid had been allocated to the various government departments. It showed that the second highest recipient after Welfare was government spending on the NHS accordingly this I assume will be the same for the rest of the nation's taxpayers.
