Return of Lynn to Hunstanton railway would be a boon, Lynn News letters
As regards bringing back the Lynn to Hunstanton railway, I have never understood why there are people so against it. There used to be one. A Victorian seaside town with no railway station? I am surprised by the number of people who believe Beeching closed the station, untrue, he actually praised it. Whoever closed it was naive, shortsighted and backward in their thinking.
It would be a boon to have the railway back again with holiday makers arriving at Lynn station and then straight through to Hunstanton in minutes. It would erase congestion and cut accidents.
As Mr Johnston states, we do need some vibrancy injected in the community. No, I am not a youngster, I am 71. Hunstanton is stagnating - what’s there for youngsters? Retirement homes is the only growth industry. The only jobs here pay a pittance but house prices are going up all the time along with rents caused by second homes which are not for local people.
A railway station could bring so much, but the powers that be love it as it is, and probably have vested interests. They will have to move into the 21st century one day.
