Benefits misery, government to blame, Lynn News letters

By Lynn News Reporter

I have just watched Panorama about Universal Credit. This government should hang their heads in shame. It is causing misery, hardship, poverty, evictions, debt and massive rent arrears.

The councils cannot keep picking up the tab as their budgets are being cut by hundreds of millions of pounds. The government called in a top professor on benefits for his input. He told them it was wrong, unfair and unworkable the way they were doing it and was ignored.

Even the minister at the time, Iain Duncan Smith who started Universal Credits has said this is not how it should be.

Sir Henry Bellingham MP believes fracking is good. I wonder if he would feel the same if it was happening in Norfolk? There is talk that cancer patients may have to go 40 miles for treatment to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

The QEH can’t get enough nurses because of foreign workers recruitment issues. Sir Henry states he is concerned about moving surgical teams to Norwich. I would point out, it is his party which has done a lot of damage to the NHS.
