Lightning strikes across West Norfolk

Storms broke out across West Norfolk last night and into the early hours of this morning, with lightning striking across the borough.

One such place was by the coast, where fire crews were called to the Old Hunstanton Lighthouse at about 6am to reports that the building had been hit by a lightning strike.

Crews from Hunstanton and Heacham attended the incident, where they isolated the electricity supply and ensured the building was safe.

Jo Tidman sent in this photo of the scene over Tilney St Lawrence last night.

She said: "It was mostly sheet lightning so I was lucky to get this shot. Marking the end of a lovely heatwave."
