Lights tribute on Hunstanton cliffs to missing windsurfer
The final Advent mystery location light-up undertaken by Jak Ropa included a tribute to Chris Bamfield, the retired senior West Norfolk Council officer who went missing off Hunstanton while windsurfing in November..
The lighting and events firm took up the the challenge of lighting up the famous two-tone cliffs of Old Hunstanton.
Eric's Fish and Chips sponsored this project to enable Jak Ropa to cover our costs on planning, insurance and resources. As part of the thank you in return its logo was part of the display.
The event on Christmas Eve went ahead with the permission of the Le Strange Estate.
A spokesman for Jak Ropa said: "It only seemed right to pay tribute to Chris Bamfield, who went missing while windsurfing. For this we lit the cliffs in white and had a few minutes' silence to pay our tribute.
"Since releasing the images the family have been in touch and are overwelled with the surprise tribute we paid to Chris."
Speaking overall of the project which has seen landmarks around the borough lit up in colourful illuminations, he said: "The reaction we have had has been nothing less than amazing for this never-been-done-before project. We hope to return to this location next year for another spectacle."
Jak Ropa said it is working on a 2022 calendar and posters which will go on sale in the spring with all the profits to the Purfleet Trust for work with the homeless in West Norfolk.
