Foodies celebrated National St Bunters Day on Sunday at the Dalegate Cafe, Burnham Deepdale.
It was a day for cake and bun lovers to feast on their favourite treats such as flapjacks, brownies, millionaires shortbread and carrot cake, with gluten-free offerings on show as well.
Managing director Sophie Widdowson said: “It is important for us to recognise a food related day. The favourite is salted caramel.”
On display were an impressive display of tempting tasty and sumptuous delicacies including the cafe’s very popular scones, all home-made in house.
As national days go St Bunters Day is not one of the best known but places such as Dalegate aim to change that. There is World Tripe Day (October 24), Mud Cake Day (November 7) and the ever popular Fish and Chips Day (June 5).
Definitely a lip-smacking occasion - though it is doubtful they will wait a year before indulging their taste buds again.
