LEARN MORESouth West Norfolk MP Liz Truss has been named as the replacement for Lord David Frost as the person steering post-Brexit talks with the EU.
Lord Frost shocked the Government on Saturday by announcing he was quitting the position, citing unhappiness with the direction of travel by Boris Johnson over Covid.
The move marks a further upward projection for Ms Truss, who was made Foreign Secretary in a Cabinet reshuffle in September.
She will retain this role alongside the new post leading negotiations over the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Since being elected as MP for South West Norfolk in 2010, Ms Truss has been Secretary of State for the Environment, Lord Chancellor and Justice Secretary and International Trade Secretary.
She is now second favourite behind Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak to succeed Mr Johnson if a vacancy arises.
