Local gets spectacular snap of the Blood Moon from his garden

John Craythorne, chairman of the Lynn Astronomy society, was over the moon as he managed to capture the lunar eclipse last night, despite the cloudy sky.

John said: "The club was all set up with telescopes next to All Saints church, and we couldn't see the moon it was so frustrating.

"We packed up and went home, when I arrived my wife told me she had seen the Moon from our garden!

"So I got my equipment and held a half an hour vigil.

"Thankfully, the clouds broke and I could get a decent shot, It's the last one of this year and the next one will be in 2021."

The Astronomy society has swelled in numbers following several school visits in the area, which are designed to teach the younger generations about space.

The club is now fifty-four members strong, when it was originally compromised of just five people.

John said: "We are always looking for new people to sign up, it's a great experience and you can learn how to use a telescope, see the moon and have a chance to take your own pictures."
