All Our Yesterdays: Looking back at October village views in Denver, Stoke Ferry, Pott Row and more from 2011, 2016 and 2017
In our weekly All Our Yesterdays feature, we take a look back at October village views from 2011, 2016 and 2017…

October 2011: Pictured at the 33rd annual Rudhams and District Horticultural Show are the winners surrounded by some of their competitors. From left, Ruby Dunger (striped sweater), Sally Heading, Paul Easey and Colin Walker.
October 2011: The chairman of Stoke Ferry parish council, Tom Ryves (left) was hoping that the former village pub, the Blue Bell, could be re-opened and run by the community. He is joined outside the empty pub by (from left) Rachel Fuller, Pat Holton and Ray Thompson.
October 2011: Pott Row’s Green Fingers Gardening Club marked another successful year of fundraising – through auctions, raffles and sale of local produce – by presenting a £500 cheque to the First Responders Community Partnership. Presenting the cheque is club chairman Charles Fosgate to Andrew Barlow, the First Responders Community Partnership manager. Committee members from left are Jan Nunn, Joy Jeffries, Jenny Lynne, Rosemary De Whalley, Ann Nicholson and Dio’ne Fosgate.
October 2011: Roydon couple Jim and Beverly Boon (right) continued their fundraising for the Macmillan Cancer Care and Treatment Fund, with this cheque for £825. They were joined by Josie High and receiving the cheque is Bev Perryman of the QEH Macmillan unit. The couple’s daughter, Jamie King, had died at the age of 34 in 2003.
October 2016: Residents join church and parish council officials for a planting session on the village green in North Runcton. It was hoped the bulbs would bloom in time for fundraising events in the spring and help towards the £200,000 needed for roof repairs at All Saints’ Church.
October 2016: Paintings, crafts, photographs and stalls filled Narborough’s All Saints’ Church when the Nar Valley Art Group hosted an arts and craft exhibition. Brenda Rankin is pictured with some of her work.
October 2016: Norfolk Creative Arts, Grimston’s new arts school, held a free family-friendly drawing workshop as part of the month-long and world-wide Steam Powered Big Draw Festival 2016. Putting her skills to the test is eight-year-old Megan Lovegrove.
October 2016: Gayton residents held a knit and natter afternoon tea and sale at the village’s Jubilee Hall, raising funds for the East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH).
October 2017: Bearts of Stowbridge held a charity car wash and raised £1,114 for Cancer Research UK – topping the previous year’s figure by more than £200. Pictured from left are Daniel Cole, Debbie Britton and Stephen Brighton.
October 2016: Workers removed a controversial flagpole from the ground close to the Dersingham war memorial – after the parish council decided to have the pole removed amid a long-running dispute with the Royal British Legion branch. Critics claim the measure showed a lack of respect and pictured here are Kurtis Green (the Memorial Three) and John Houston ( British Legion) showing where the flagpole used to be.
