This year’s National Talking Newspaper week starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday, September 13.
To coincide with the week, officials behind Lynn’s Talking Newspaper, Visionlink, have appealed for anyone who may be interested in taking up the service to contact them.
Now in its 36th year, it provides a digest of local news in audio form to the blind and visually impaired in West Norfolk and some further afield.
The news is sourced from the Lynn News and recorded on Monday nights at the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind’s training centre (NNAB) in North Lynn by a team of volunteers.
This is then copied onto USB memory sticks and posted to listeners.
Currently there are 112 listeners, who are provided with a special player for the memory sticks.
If you know of someone who might appreciate the local news in this form or if you want to volunteer, contact David on 01553 631579 or Keith on 01553 810848 .
Information is also available online at www.kingslynntn.co.uk.
You can also contact the NNAB on 01553 660808 or online at www.nnab.org.uk
