There has been major congestion around Lynn this evening because of a crash and a broken down vehicle on the A149.

Although social media reports are suggesting the situation is now beginning to ease, the road has been closed southbound between the Knights Hill and Queen Elizabeth Hospital roundabouts following a two-vehicle collision, which happened at around 5.10pm today.

Full details of injuries have not yet been released, though reports suggest they are not believed to be serious.

Earlier, the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service says one person was cut free from the wreckage.

Meanwhile, a broken down lorry has also caused delays on the A149 between the hospital and Jubilee roundabouts.

And both incidents have created long queues on all other main routes through the town, including Edward Benefer Way, Gayton Road and London Road.

In a separate incident, emergency crews were also called to a collision on Sandy Lane, South Wootton this evening.

The crash happened shortly after 5.10pm. Fire service chiefs say Lynn crews provided casualty care and made the area safe.
