Lynn’s police station could be getting a major refurbishment if planners give the green light.
The St James Street Station could be getting make-over with refurbishing masonry and re-modelling the car park.
The force has applied to put up a single storey extension to the north west of the site.
An application has been lodged with West Norfolk Council.
The design and access statement says: “The project is a response to the current police station being too large for its present requirements.
“Scheme proposals are to reduce and remodel the building in order to provide a police station that matches the forces current requirements and removing surplus space that have considerable costs to retain.
“The scheme also includes for replacement of the existing communications mast and erection of new sized to suit modern requirements and local conditions to enable full operation of the police station.”
With the custody suite being moved to the Saddlebow Investigation Centre, the station is now used for neighbourhood policing and response teams, CID and Intelligence.
