Man, 20, dies in fresh tragedy at Bawsey beauty spot

A man has died following an incident at a West Norfolk beauty spot yesterday afternoon.

Emergency crews, including an air ambulance, were called to the Bawsey Country Park at around 4pm on Wednesday, following reports that a man was in difficulties in the water there.

Norfolk Police confirmed this morning that a 20-year-old man was treated by paramedics, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman said the man's next of kin have been informed and inquiries are continuing.

The tragedy happened as temperatures soared in the sunshine, peaking at around 30 degrees Celsius.

It is the second fatal incident at the popular location in less than a year, and comes just days after a further emergency rescue there.

Bosses of the site issued an urgent safety plea after 22-year-old Kristers Bednarskis drowned there in August 2020.
