Man arrested in Hilgay hare coursing claim

A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged hare coursing incident in Hilgay.

Police say they were called to the area at around 3.30pm on Friday, January 23 following reports of the illegal activity being carried out on Ely Road.

A helicopter was also drafted in to assist the search.

The man is currently on bail until February 16 and investigations are continuing.

PC Richard Allan, of Downham police, said: “Hare coursing is an offence that will not be tolerated by police and I can assure the public that we will act promptly and robustly to pursue offenders committing this type of crime.”
