Downham man charged over protest outside Amazon distribution centre

A man from Downham is set to appear in court in the New Year charged in connection with a protest outside an Amazon distribution centre.

Cambridgeshire Police say they were called to a demonstration at the premises in Flexley Road, Stanborough, Peterborough at around 4.30am on Friday.

Four arrests were made later that evening.

In a statement released this morning, Cambridgeshire Police announced that a 30-year-old man from Downham, who has not been named, had been charged with using violence or intimidation under the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992.

Two men, aged 22 and 23, and a 27-year-old woman – all from Cambridge – face the same charge.

All four defendants are due to appear before magistrates in Peterborough on January 14.

The site was among several to be targeted during demonstrations across the country.
