Man in 70s dies on A1122 in Downham Market after collision with van

A man in his 70s has died after being hit by a van earlier today.

Police have confirmed that the man passed away following the collision in Downham, which was between the pedestrian and a Ford transit van on the westbound carriageway of the A1122.

Officers were called at 11.37am, but the victim died at the scene.

The road was fully shut between St John's Way and the A10 roundabout.

No-one else was injured in the collision, but this is now the second fatal incident to take place on the same stretch of road in as many months.

Norfolk officers are now appealing for any witnesses - or anybody who was in the area at the time with dashcam footage - to contact the Serious Collison Investigation Unit.

They can do so by emailing SCIU@norfolk.police.uk or by phoning 101, quoting reference 138 of February 15.

Alternatively, people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
