Man fined for breaching court order at Swaffham site

A man has been fined after he was caught breaching a court order, less than a week after it was served, by being on a Swaffham caravan site.

John Watson, 31, of no fixed abode, was handed a three-year criminal behaviour order by magistrates in Norwich last week.

The order bars him from entering the Splashes site on Castle Acre Road, Swaffham, or any part of the Breckland police area.

But magistrates yesterday fined him £400 for breaching the order by being on the Splashes site on Wednesday morning.

Police said he had been discovered by officers who had been called to the site for a separate matter.

Inspector Jon Papworth said after the hearing: "These orders give us the opportunity to support offenders while preventing further offences being committed.

"It also acts as a way for us to provide reassurance to the public that we will deal with persistent law breakers.

"It is disappointing that Watson has breached the order within a week of it being imposed. Again, I hope the action taken shows the public will take positive action.”
