Burnham Market man smashed Fakenham Pharmacy door after turning up to wrong place for appointment
Frustration led to a 51-year-old man smashing a pharmacy door, Lynn Magistrates’ Court was told.
Drunken Karl Nevin booted the glass door after turning up at the wrong place for an appointment with alcohol and drug support provider CGL.
It happened at Fakenham Pharmacy at 1.30pm on June 30.
Nevin entered and a new staff member was unsure where to direct him to go.
“The defendant got frustrated and swore at him. On leaving the premises he kicks the automatic door and a glass pane breaks,” said prosecutor Colette Harper.
Police were called and soon picked up Nevin from a description given.
“He fully admitted his actions," said Mrs Harper. “He said he wanted to get help for his alcohol addiction which is the reason he was there.”
Nevin, of Sutton Estate, Burnham Market, pleaded guilty to criminal damage and a public order offence.
Solicitor George Sorrell said in mitigation that the pharmacy and medical centre where his client should’ve been were in the same building.
“Because he’d been drinking, he behaved in that way,” Mr Sorrell added.
Nevin was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £145 costs and £26 victim surcharge.
The bench said there would be no compensation order to the pharmacy as no value had been submitted.
